A "Soviet Union"-like Collapse??

Amanda and I were just talking about this last night! I didn't know about this interview when we were discussing the "future of America", and I mentioned to her that this sort of collapse is a possibility. Watch and educate yourself.

The Last Bubble to Pop - Treasury Bond Bubble
Up until now the US budget deficit has been financed by the (mainly)
Asian export countries recycling their trade surplus dollars into US
treasuries. This worked out nicely for the US, however there is a
problem now. The trade surpluses of those countries never even
approached the amount that the US government now needs to borrow, even
during the good times. Now, with trade surpluses dropping, those
countries will be able to afford even less US treasuries. The
government will be forced to print the money it needs, thereby
destroying the value of the dollar.
Make no mistake though, this is what the government wants. Paying back
colossal debts in worthless currency is not a difficult task. The US
government wants to spend as much as possible now, and thereby control
the devaluation of the dollar themselves...before others come to the
realization that America can never pay back it's current debts and
liabilities in the current circumstances. By the time America's
creditors come to this realization, they will be sitting with
mountains of worthless paper; their hard-earned money having gone to
bail out banks, invade foreign countries and propping up the American
consumer.
They will have been victims of the greatest fraud and the largest
bubble in history - The U.S. Treasury Bond Bubble.
P.S. If you think treasuries AREN'T a bubble, ask yourself why people
would buy them at negative interest rates. This kind of thing only
happens during bubble-based booms. Prepare yourselves.
People You Should Know - Carter Beauford
This is part 1 of Deshman's List of People You Should Know. Please meet Carter Beauford. Currently he is the drummer for the Dave Matthews Band, and in my opinion is highly under-rated. Take a look at this "over the shoulder" drum lesson played with the song "Say Goodbye".
Google Latitude tracks your friends locations, and this scares me.
Google has released a new smart phone application called Google Latitude. This app allows you and your friends to create a "social network" that displays everyone's actual geographical location by means of GPS and cell phone towers.
Kids are gonna eat this up. Just think, "omg mommy, Jake and Alison are at Old Navy!! Can we go and hang out with them" or perhaps "OMG, did you see that Bob and Jane were at the movies together last night?!?". Ok, well, it doesn't give you quite that much detail, and you can set different privacy levels for your location.
The privacy seems to be decent, but Google keeps your last location on file; whenever you move, the location updates in real time. If you are at the mall, you could potentially see an ad for the Dippin' Dots kiosk right in front of you. Google could be on a digital ad goldmine here.
They could also use this information for data mining. For example, males 21-29 tend to hang out at bars X,Y,and Z on Fri and Sat nights. This type of data mining should scare you; at least it does me. Google's motto is "Don't be Evil", but why couldn't it be "Be Good"? I'm not sure what this type of application will hold for our future, but I do know that it will mean less privacy. Do you think that the State/Federal Police could force Google to hand over their logs?
